Ingredients
- 5 large potatoes (about 1 kilo)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 cup parmesan cheese (about 2.5 dl)
- 1 cup running cream (about 2.5 dl)
- 2 teaspoons nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon black pepper powder
Manufacturing
- Wash the potatoes thoroughly before peeling them.
- Preheat the oven to 175 ºC.
- Slice the potatoes for the gratin. Make sure that the potatoes are about the same size (about 2 cm wide) so that they cook evenly.
- Carefully grease the pan selected for gratin with butter or margarine to prevent the gratin from sticking to it.
- Then mix together the cream, garlic, black pepper, salt and nutmeg. You can use a blender to mix or, if you prefer, lightly heat the mixture gently before baking in the oven. However, this is not a mandatory step to achieve a delicious end result.
- Mix the parmesan cheese into the cream mixture.
- Then assemble the gratin in a pan as follows: stack only the potatoes on the first layer and then cover the layer with the cream mixture. Lado on top of a new layer of potatoes and cover them again with the cream mixture. This recipe should always suffice for 4 layers, but you can also make more layers if the pan is small.
- Bake the gratin in the oven for about 45 minutes and raise the temperature of the oven for the last five minutes to brown the cheese nicely.
- Serve fresh and you will notice how your family and friends will fall in love with this delicious and fast potato gratin!
