Light and sweet toast made of walnuts

A walnut toast with walnuts is a wonderful dessert
Toast is a traditional dessert from which a wide variety of variations can be prepared.

Toast is a traditional dessert, of which there are many alternative versions today. The most classic recipe consists of milk, sugar and eggs, which are cooked in a water bath in a caramelized mold.

Sometimes the mixture can be seasoned and other ingredients can be added, such as fruit pieces, biscuits or even a sugar cake. This allows you to conjure up slightly different but equally delicious desserts, such as chocolate, pineapple and orange toast.

The version presented in this article contains walnuts. Walnuts are known for their myriad nutrients and health effects. In addition,  they give the toast a surprising contrast of flavors and a very creamy texture.

This is a very easy recipe! All you have to do is mix the ingredients together and let them cook in the oven to the ideal point – this is the perfect dessert for special occasions and at the end of meals.

Delicious toast with walnuts: the necessary ingredients

A total of 8 servings of the following ingredients are available:

  • 750 ml of milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 200 g of sugar
  • 100 g of shelled walnuts
  • 150 g biscuits
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

To make caramel for the base, you need:

  • 100 g of sugar
  • 3 tablespoons water

This is how the toast is made from walnuts

  • First, turn the oven on at 180 degrees Celsius and place a damper with water on it. It must be large enough to accommodate the toasted mold.
  • The next step is to prepare the caramel for the base. To do this, put the pot on the stove and add 100 g of sugar and water. As the edges begin to darken, mix the contents slightly to obtain a uniform mixture. Then pour it onto the bottom of the mold, being careful not to burn yourself.
  • To make a toasted pan base, break the eggs into a bowl or other container. Mix very gently with the sugar until you get a somewhat smooth dough. Then add a little milk and vanilla essence. The mixture does not need to be beaten as it should not become bubbly or fluffy.
  • Grind the biscuits and nuts in an electric mixer or food processor and mix with the liquid ingredients.
  • Pour the finished mixture into a caramelized mold and bake in a water bath in the oven for about 45 minutes. The maturity of the toast can be checked by injecting it with a toothpick or a sharp knife. If it comes out clean, the dessert is ready.
  • Allow the toast to cool slightly and place in the refrigerator. A complete dessert is obtained when left in the refrigerator for 24 hours before serving.

Lactose-free cow’s milk or almond milk can be used in dessert for people with lactose intolerance. In addition, the dessert can be made from gluten-free biscuits, making the recipe also suitable for celiacs.

This is how the toast is finished

There are many variations of toast
Carefully remove the toasting pan from the mold to make it look perfect.

The walnut toast is a dessert whose sophisticated taste and texture is guaranteed to surprise and please your guests. However, this can be ruined if you break the toast when you take it out of the mold. While the taste remains the same, the presentation is no longer nearly as eye-catching.

To prevent this from happening, it is important to wait until the toast is well settled and cold before taking it out of the mold. The ideal time in the refrigerator is at least six hours so that it does not break down when removed from the mold.

When you start serving dessert, pull a thin knife around its edges. The knife does not have to reach all the way to the bottom, as the uppermost part usually grips the most. Then place a flat plate on top of the mold and turn it over quickly and steadily.

Place on a flat surface and carefully remove the mold. If it still refuses to come off, the problem may be due to the caramel. The problem can be solved by placing the mold for ten seconds on a tray with a little hot water to soften the dessert. Then dry the mold and turn it over again as before.

Finish

Once you’ve got the toast out of the mold, it’s time to put it up on the table. It makes you look great with many possible decorations.

One possible option is to put whipped cream or a little chocolate sauce on top of the toast. You can also chop a little strawberry or cinnamon-flavored oven apple, as these flavors go well together.

If there is more time, set aside a few half-sliced walnuts. Caramelize them with a small amount of water and sugar, and when they are dry, place them on top of the toasting pan. They give extra sweetness and a crunchy texture.

In any case, the walnut toast is an excellent dessert in itself, which looks great at the end of the meal and is guaranteed to surprise all your guests.
